Speaking of updates, it is always a good idea to use the latest version of TWRP.

Why? Because if you try flashing any file using the old version of TWRP, you might end up with an error flashing on your phone’s screen. To avoid that, you should have the latest version of TWRP up and running.

How to Update TWRP Recovery?

There are two methods for updating TWRP. One is through the TWRP Recovery itself and the other is through the Official TWRP App.

Method #1: Through TWRP Recovery

All you’ve got to do is go through the following steps and you’ll have the latest version of TWRP Recovery within a few minutes of time.

Step #1: Head over to the official website of TWRP and search for your device. Tap on your device from the search result.

Step #2: On the next page, scroll down till you find Download Links and tap on any of the download mirrors.

Step #3: You’ll be presented with a list of all the available TWRP versions for your device. Click on the latest one and on the next page tap on ‘Download twrp-x.x.x-x-xxxxxx.img’. The download will begin.

Please note that you need to click on the link which ends with .img.

Step #4: Switch off your device and boot into Recovery mode by pressing ‘Power + Volume Down’ simultaneously for a few seconds.

Step #5: Tap ‘Install’, and then tap on ‘Install Image‘.

Browse and select the image file which you downloaded in the second step.

Step #6: Select Recovery and then Swipe to Confirm Flash.

Method #2: Through the Official TWRP App

TWRP also has its own app on the Google Play Store which lets you flash any file without going into the recovery mode.

Here’s how you can update TWRP to the latest version with the help of the app:

Step #1: The first, and the most obvious, thing to do is to download the Official TWRP App from the Google Play Store.

Step #2: Once the download is finished, launch the app and tap on TWRP Flash. Grant Root Permissions, if asked to.

Step #3: Tap on Select Device and pick your device from the drop-down list. Tap on the name of your device and the app will come up with all the available versions of TWRP for your device.

Tap on the latest one. You will be taken to the official website of TWRP. Tap on ‘Download twrp-x.x.x-x-xxxxxx.img’ and the image file will start downloading.

Step #4: Now, in the TWRP app, tap on Select a file to flash, navigate to the downloaded image file and select it.
